What is the biggest rating disparity between blitz and classical chess you know of?

I often hear that improving adults can become pretty good in long time control chess, but not in blitz. This makes sense, but in the practice I always see these ratings follow each other.

Do you know of any case of big disparity between these ratings? For example if someone is 1500-1600 in blitz, but 2100+ otherwise? You know, bad or average in blitz, but quite strong in normal chess?

My case is that I oscilate around 1700 in blitz and around 1900 in rapid/classic. This is still pretty close

Gotta admit, I've never heard that one before.
Hi Luka. I am also an adult chess improver, and pretty much the same case as yours.

It's simple, many adult beginners can't stop blundering when playing faster games. They just don't see the board well enough. In slow games they can take their time to do some blunder checks, so at least they don't lose games because they didn't see their rook was hanging.

For the same rason adult beginners usually never get used to coordinates. No matter how hard they try (and trust me, i DID try to learn it, for months and months), they are never comfortable in using coordinates, they don't know where is g5 unless they count or look at the sidemarks of the board, nor do they know the color of g5 without counting. That's just the way it is.
Disparity in blitz and classical ratings of players is pretty common. If there's negligible disparity, then player is suspicious if not a top level player.

Do you now a concrete example with big disparity? Someone who is really strong in classical chess, but weak in blitz? That’s what I am asking

it is usually big just because "Rating as relative". There is absolutely no reason to assume that 1500 in on pool mean 1500 in a another pool.

In pools with big inflow/outflow rating median settles to starting rating which in lichess 1500. Pool os classical chess player in lichess (and online generally) is way weaker than blitz pool hence the difference is big. On top that there thing like some people (like older people) will play better in more moderate speed .

Do you have one example of big difference, on any site or server? That's what I am looking for. Someone who is strong in classical chess, but weak in blitz. I don't know any such example, this is why I ask.

Surely but I can't pick every user to check that.
There are such players and this topic was discussed before also. You may try searching the forums for finding those threads where examples of such users was shown.
Or if I could access all users of Lichess list, then I could easily tell you required info.
I agree blitz and rapid/classical probably track. On chess-com I'm 1600+ rapid, but there I only play 30 minute games, but my blitz is around 1350.

Adults can definitely improve in blitz. I thing CLSmith15 is pretty inspirational. He went from around 1400 to 2100 in blitz as an adult.
